Broadwell have had the better of the encounters between these two sides over the last couple of seasons, and this game looked to be heading the same way, with Longlevens on the back foot from the outset and the crossbar coming to their rescue twice in the opening exchanges.
Broadwell’s incisive passing was causing the ‘Levens defence a lot of problems, but the held out resolutely. With Longlevens’ first attack of note and indeed first shot at goal, they took the lead. An excellent through ball from Jude and a superbly timed run and finish by Jae saw Longlevens lead at the break.
The second half remained close but Longlevens definitely showed more attacking flair and really should have been further ahead than their slender 1 goal advantage gave them. Broadwell continued to press for an equalizer but in the end, failed to find a cutting edge and Longlevens held out for a very satisfying 1-0 win.
