Tom Shaw and Chris Little handed the third team reigns.

Tom Shaw has been named as the new manager for the clubs 3rd team for the forthcoming season, and has acted quickly to name Chris Little as his assistant.

Little spoke about his ambitions for the season “We want to continue with the theme of promoting youth as this has worked well across the board in recent seasons. With a successful Under 17 team last year becoming under 18s this year, if we can create a smooth transition from youth football to men's football then we have every chance of repeating last years fortune”

Assistant, Little (Chris), who took charge of the team on a few occasions last season, said,

“On a personal note I’m delighted to be asked by the club to help and support Tom run the 3rd team.
I’m under no illusions that it will be a new challenge and a testing one for the players, Tom and myself, especially with the 3rds having success last season and being promoted”

“I’m confident that we can continue the success and keep establishing a young and exciting team with great potential, this can only benefit the club in the long run. Pre-season will be where the hard work starts and I’m very much looking forward to it”

Manager Shaw is also keen to carry on the clubs “trust in the youth” policy;

“With my role in the Longlevens youth section as the head coach of the under 18 side, I will be looking to promote youth from within the club ranks where possible. These players should all be aspiring to play for the adult sections first team and reserve team. The crop of players we currently have in the Under 18 side are a promising group and I am excited to see how some of these players fare at the level the third team will be playing at”

“Overall I believe that we will have a side capable of competing well in the league against some accomplished first and reserve teams and I am relishing the opportunity”

“Im looking forward to taking on a new challenge in my first adults team coaching position. Im really happy to have Chris Little assisting me this season and am hoping that his experience of coaching in the Stroud league will be beneficial for all of the lads in the side”

Pre Season starts on for the 3rd & 4th team on Wednesday 4th July at Longlevens AFC. 6:45pm - 8pm. All new and existing players are welcome. Anyone who wants to challenge for the 1st & 2nd team, training starts on Wednesday 20th June at Saw Mills End 6.30pm.
