Experienced defender Matt Sysum returns to the club in a coaching role.

Longlevens are pleased to announce the return of local defender Matt Sysum, who will be added to the sides first team coaching set up for the forthcoming season.

Having started his football career with Longlevens, Sysum returns for what will his first time back with the football club in a full time manner, however this time in a slightly different capacity.

Sysum will return as a first team coach supporting Mark Moore current coaching side of Craig Martin (assistant) and Tim Hall (coach). “we’ve been trying to get Matt in for some time now as with his playing experience he is well placed to take the side forward and add valuable experience and nouse to the dressing room” said Moore.

Sysum has a vast amount of experience at souther league level, representing; Gloucester City, Cirencester Town, Evesham United, Mangotsfield Town, North Leigh and most recently Westfields, the former 5 clubs which he captained during his time there.

However with the recent expectancy of twins with his partner sysum has decided to step away from playing commitments and return to the Hellenic Premier club to support on the training pitch.

“Since leaving the club at a young age, its always had a place in my heart and i always thought that maybe one day there would be a way back to the club for me” Sysum Said.

“Ive played for the club a few times over the years, but have always wanted to play as high as i can, however this time is slightly different with the birth of my children round the corner. Im looking forward to getting stuck into the coaching side of things and hopefully can pass on some of the playing experience i have gained over the years”

Sysum is one of a number additions that Moores plans to make to his playing squad this summer as reflected at the back end of the last campaign, “We have a number of new faces lined up for when we start the season, a few of which we are still working on. With the faces we have lined up and the young lads we have already involved within the club, Sysums experience and additional support will proof imperative to kick us forward”

Longlevens kick off their pre season on Wednesday 20th June at Saw Mills End, where they will once again be joined by Titan Training and Nutrition to support their pre season preparations throughout pre season. 6.30pm start.
