Longlevens Sign Former Gloucester City U18s Forward Ahead Of Trip To Brackley Town Saints

Longlevens have completed the signing of forward Josh Watts from Hellenic League Division One side Cheltenham Saracens and he is straight into the squad for today's trip to Brackley Town Saints.

The Hellenic Premier side have secured the transfer of the former Gloucester City U18s man and have added to a young and promising squad ahead of their away game at Brackley.

Longlevens First Team Manager Craig Martin spoke to Severn Sport regarding the transfer and admitted that it was one the club looked to get done last season.

"We are very happy to bring an exciting young player like Josh in. We did try getting him in last season and Mark [former manager Mark Moore] invited him along to pre-season training, but he probably didn’t feel it was the right time.

He’s then had a great season with Cheltenham Saracens last term, so that will only benefit him and us for his development," Martin said.

Martin has received praise during his time as Longlevens manager for continuing to bring through young players into his squad and he says he is delighted to add another young talent into the group - starting with today's fixture at Brackley Town Saints.

"Josh is another one to add to the young squad we are putting together here at Longlevens. He’s got a bit of everything pace, skill and also the aggression that some younger lads haven’t got in them, so it is exciting to see what he brings to the side.

He will be involved today and this will probably be the youngest squad in the club's history. It’s the way we are looking to go and looking to develop these lads with minutes at Hellenic level. This weekend we have Jack Cornell and Toby Shelton in the matchday squad, with the latter coming back from a long time injury to his arm," Martin added.
