Longlevens fall to their first defeat of the season against Oxford City Nomads

Longlevens fell to their first defeat of the new season, in a 5-3 defeat to a young, energetic Oxford City Nomads side who were well worth their 3 points at Saw Mills.

In a game which saw Longlevens score first for only the second time this season, after Dave Merrick split the Nomads defence and finish well under the keeper.

Levens then switched off after a free kick was awarded and Nomads equalised with a superb curling finish outside the 18 yard box. Shortly before the break Levens fell behind when they allowed too much time and space inside the box for an easy finish.

Levens started the second half as they had the first and soon got themselves level when Brad Martin was fouled in the box for a penalty. Shaun OConnor duly obliged for 2-2.

That was as good as it got for Longlevens as an energetic Nomads controlled the tempo of the next 25 minutes which would finish with Longlevens well and truly beaten.

Nomads scored 3 goals without reply, the first coming soon after Levens had equalised, a pull back from the byline was well converted.

Nomads scored their fourth soon after, then put the game to bed on 80 minutes when substitute Gila converted from a cross.

There was just enough time for Brad Martin to add to his good early season scoring tally on an overall disappointing afternoon for Longlevens.

Longlevens: Harris, Dunn (Lewis 60), Phillips (Sausman. 75) Smyllie, Beaton (C), Turner, Welch, Merrick, Rich (Vanstone 45), OConnor, B Martin. Subs: Kavanagh.
