After the departure of long term Manager Luke Davies at the end of last years campaign, Longlevens have acted quickly to bring in a suitable replacement to run the successful ladies side. This supports the football clubs charter standard status alongside its flourishing mens and junior set up.
26 year old Rob McGeever will take the reigns for the next campaign and is already relishing the task he has taken on.
“Taking over from Luke is never going to be easy as he has been with the team for a long time, so i’m keen to pick up where he left off. It’s a brand new challenge for me and i’m really excited to get going!”
With playing experience for cheltenham based club Charlton Rovers, Rob started his coaching with Southside junior section. However after suffering an ACL injury playing for the mens side at Longlevens, he then decided to step back into coaching and became Assistant Manager for Longlevens ladies side last season.
Rob already has his sights set in his first season in charge of the team.
“I want to be ambitious and with the players we have I think we can challenge at the top of the league and have a decent cup run. I plan to also change up the formation and find out what really works with the set of players we have. Id love to bring the ladies team closer to the men’s team and more part of the club”
For anyone out there who is looking to come along and get involved, pre season will start on the first weekend in July. There is a social kickabout which takes place every Tuesday at Longford Lane & is a great way for new players to ease themselves in.
League matches are played at Saw Mills End and they will start in September and go right through to May.
The side currently have 3 friendlies lined up with another 1 or 2 more to be confirmed and a 5 aside tournament arranged.
